1. Bearing mounting

To ensure that bearings demonstrate their best performance, it is critical to design and produce shafts and housings properly.

1.Keys to designing and producing good shafts and housings
1)
The shaft should be thick and short.
2)
The housing should possess sufficient rigidity.
3)
The fitting surface of the shaft and housing should be finished in order to acquire the required accuracy and roughness.
4)
The shoulder end - face should be finished in order to be perpendicular to the shaft center, and the bottom surface of the housing hole also to be perpendicular to the housing hole.
5)
The radius of the roundness at the corners of the shaft and housing should be smaller than the chamfer dimension of the bearing. The shoulder height should be as per specifications.
6)
In case of a split housing, the surfaces where the housing meet should be finished smoothly and provided with a recess at the inner ends of the surfaces meet.

2. Shaft design examples (bearing installation methods)
The shaft should be designed for the bearing to be installed in the manner most suitable for the machine.
Typical shaft designs (bearing installation methods) are shown in the table.
